*Again, as there isn't really a set time in which the scientific revolution took place, I am marking it down as an event rather than as a time period. The revolution took place very generally during the 16th to 18th centuries.
The scientific revolution was a movement in which scientific experiments and ideals became more popular and sought after, and people changed from relying on superstition and tradition to being more empirical in their examinations of the world. With the revolution came the rise of inductive reasoning/induction (constructing a larger conclusion based on gathered evidence) and deductive reasoning (applying a general rule to a specific case). One figure prominent during the scientific revolution was Sir Francis Bacon, who developed the modern scientific method. Another figure was Rene Descartes, the father of deductive reasoning.
Along with new perspectives on science, the scientific revolution brought with it new physical scientific developments, including the revelation that the sun was the center of the universe (known as heliocentrism) rather than the earth being the center (geocentrism), as well as the theory of gravity. Heliocentrism was conjectured and defended by Copernicus, Galilei, and Issac Newton.
