(Term 2 Event) On Christmas night, George Washington and his men crossed the icy Delaware river in an attempt at a surprise attack against the Hessians. They succeeded in defeating their enemies who were not prepared for the attack.

1. Although it was risky to cross the river in such cold conditions, they miraculously made it across the river and marched 8 miles, only losing 2 soldiers in the process. This is a great example in history that God always has a hand in these events.

2. The victory that resulted from their surprise attack helped build confidence and gave the army renewed spirits.

3. This story can help people to have more faith and press forward. Washington and his army did not give up no matter how hopeless things were. We can learn so much from their example.
