Dropped by the US on Japan in August 1945, the atomic bomb would have devastating impacts on Hiroshima. This bomb did not only cause Japan to surrender, but acted as a statement towards other countries, demonstrating willingness to use force if necessary. While the US refused to share the technology with the Soviet party, Truman saw this as an advantage to not permit Soviet influence within Asia after a surrender was achieved.
