One thing that happened in the compromise of 1850 was that California became a free state. Second was Washington slave trade was illegal. New Mexico and Utah who where won in the Mexican war they decided wheather they wanted to be a free state or a slave state. The last thing in the Compromise of 1850 was that a new fugitive law was passed.
