1 Jan 1692 Jahr - Salem Witch Trials 1692
Beschreibung:
The Salem Witch Trials were a series of accusations of witchcraft that led to the lynching of 20 individuals and 2 dogs. These accusations were obviously false but it reflected the uncertainty facing the New England colonies as populations began to expand and a new commercial class began to form. Most of those doing the accusing were Puritan farmers who feared that their way of life could be changed by a rapidly emerging commercial class. The witch trials represented the need of people trying to find a scapegoat for social issues.
