June 1941- Hitler order his army eastward, turning their back on the Soviet Union and attempting to invade. The Soviet did not see it coming and when Germany seemed to be moving closer, The Soviets failed to hesitate. The front expanded from the north cape to the black sea (2 thousand miles). Hitler severely underestimated to strength and size of the Soviet Union. The failure of capturing the Soviet union ( operation Barbarossa) forced Germany to fight a two front war. German industries were not meeting supply and demand, resulting in their deficiency in resources. This was crucial for world war two because if Hitler did not attempt to invade Russia, then Stalin would have never agreed to an alliance with the allied powers.
