Although she is still suffering from nausea and migraines, Gurdie sees Gabi, the girl she knows who started the fire, and drags her out of the debris. While evading the eye of other doctors, Gurdie brings her into her hospital room, bandaging her wounds and nursing her to health. Gabi wakes up within the hour, and Gurdie immediately encourages her to escape. She believes that Gabi can still redeem herself, for she is just a six-year-old who deserves a chance at redemption. She suggests Aerilon, a newly developed city that Gurdie and Philip plan to start their family in the future. Gabi flees from Pyroville before authorities from Ironwood can arrive.
