Dred Scott V. Sandford, was a court case that has held in 1857. This court case was held between Dred Scott, a slave, and his master Sandford. Scott believed that he should be free because his master had brought him to live in a free state for a time. After the case was held the Court came to the conclusion that African Americans were not citizens and could never be, which mean't that Scott was to remain a slave.
