In 1620, Puritans, a religious group that wanted to be separate from the Roman Catholic Church, other wise known as Pilgrims, landed and established Plymouth Colony. Plymouth Colony was the second English colony to be founded. Here Pilgrims wished to have religious freedom from the church so that they could finally practice their religions without fear of being jailed. The Pilgrims later went on the found Massachusetts Bay Colony.
