Beschreibung:
The Shenandoah Valley became a hot battleground between the Union and Confederate forces as the area was key place to gain a strategic advantage. The Confederate General Stonewall Jackson won a series of battles throughout the valley originally and the confederacy had the early advantage over the area. Later on, the Union General Sheridan came head on into the area and deprived many of the Confederate armies of natural resources and food until they had to retreat and the Union took back the area. This was very important because it continued to show the shifting tide back to the Union winning the war and led right up to the battle of Antietam.
