- Congress won 45 out 75 seats. The Indian National Congress emerged as the largest party in the Central Legislative Assembly

- The election marked the first year in which Indian women were eligible to vote in any but a local election

- Another party to win significant seats was the Congress Nationalist Party with 12 seats. It was founded by Madan Mohan Malaviya and Madhav Shrihari Aney in 1934.

- Muslims were majorly independent candidates
