The battle begins April 1 1945 - June 22 1945. The battle of Okinawa proved to many how dangerous an invasion of Japan really was. Claiming Okinawa was apart of U.S three-point plan to win the war. It was said by many that this was the bloodiest battle of the war. The U.S. did not want to risk invading Japan again since learning what great lengths Japanese would go through to not surrender. At the Potsdam Conference they had decided to use the atomic bombs in order to get them to surrender.
