Under Spanish command, the first Filipinos arrive in the Americas (what is now Morro Bay) aboard the Nuestra Señora de Buena Esperanza. This was part of the Manila galleon trade.

Throughout school, Filipinos were rarely mentioned in both my AP World History class and AP U.S. History class. It's important to note the erasure of Filipinx identity and history within the United States. Often times, I do not see enough advocacy or representation for Filipinxs, yet our Asian American history begins with them.
