The Indian Removal Act of 1830 was a law that forced easter American Indian tribes to move to west of the Mississippi. This law was created by Andrew Jackson who claimed that his aim for the act was to protect the Indians and their culture. The indian removal act was cruel and caused almost a quarter of the Cherokees to die while moving. If Native American tribes refused to leave wars would often break out to which the Indians would many times lose.
