Johnson's baby powder was first used in 1894 to help relieve irritated skin, made with 99.8% talcum powder and 0.2% fragrance oils. The first powder was sold in a small tin, labelled "for toilet and nursery". Babies used it to smell fresh and help with diaper rash. In 1900 baby powder was sold to women to help smooth skin, regulate odour, and keep skin dry.
