David asked Shlomo to kill Joab and Shimei ben Gera. these were king David’s final wishes, so Shlomo got them done as soon as he could, so they were done around 970 B.C.E.. Shlomo had his man Beneiyahu kill Joab because David had told him to. Shlomo also imprisoned Shimei ben Gera for cursing David. Shlomo also has his brother Adonijah killed for trying to steal David’s bed warmer.
