Lillie and Noah Hunt are born in a hospital in Nishka, Barchana. Their parents, Aidan and Xyzine, cannot afford the hospital bills, so they call the Hunts. Because of Aidan's felony (and Xyzine's status), they are forced to separate. Xyzine is forced to return to her old lifestyle with Lillie, while Aidan's parents claim the larger, healthier boy and wed Aidan off to a wealthy Tregaronian.
