With Minos having abdicated his throne and disappeared in search of Daedelus, his son Deucalion assumes the throne. HIs first act is to travel to Athens and seek the new king Theseus' forgiveness for the way Crete treated Athens. They had assumed Ariadne was with him, but discovering that she had "died" during the voyage, Deucalion gives Theseus his other sister Phaedra as a bride instead.
