Joy dies 1960: Joy died when she was in the hospital from cancer for the second time. When she died Lewis almost became his Father in a sense and rejected Joys kids (Douglas Gresham and David Gresham). Eventually he realised what he was doing and he tried to fix it. He was absolutely devastated about Joy’s death and nearly crumbled from grief.
