25 März 1911 Jahr - Triangle Shirt Waist Factory
Beschreibung:
The Triangle ShirtWaist Factory fire was a big tragedy on March 25, 1911. The fire started on the eighth floor, and it could have been prevented from happening. All the victims died because of neglected safety features and locked doors within the factory. It could have been prevented if the ladders were long enough to reach the top floors, and the water was strong enough to reach the floors. Years later the fire department added an extra ladder and made the water stronger to prevent something like this from happening again. Isaac Harris and Max Blanck, the owners of the Triangle ShirtWaist factory were charged with manslaughter. They said they locked the doors to prevent theft. People angry at what happened were looking for who to blame saying stuff like for example, "Only one little fire escape! I shall proceed against the Building Department along with the others. They are as guilty as any."
