1 Apr 1889 Jahr - Laissez-faire Capitalism: Gospel of Wealth
Beschreibung:
The Gospel of Wealth was an article by Andrew Carnegie. It was based on religion since it seemed more convincing than social Darwinism in justifying the vast amount of wealth successful industrialist have. John D. Rockefeller’s “God gave me riches” and Reverend Russel Cornwell’s preaches that become rich was an obligation added religion to wealth. Andrew Carnegie’s article titled “Wealth” stated that the wealthy has a God-given task to partake in philanthropy, giving back for the benefit of society. Leading by example, Carnegie distributed more than $350 million to support public institutions like libraries and universities.
