8 Nov 1938 Jahr - The Assassation of Ernst vom Rath
Beschreibung:
The German Embassy in Paris nearly got all of their documents, equipment and diplomats out of their building on requests from both German and French Governments on the 8th of November.
A Polish Jew by the name of Herschel Grynszpan came up to the embassy as the workers were about to leave and he demanded to one of the people that were working there to let him see an embassy official.
They denied him to see an official at first but after a few minutes of arguing, they relented.
One of the workers took him inside,
went up to the counter, and asked the secretary if there was someone still working inside the embassy.
The secretary said yes and it was Ernst vom Rath, who was about to get his last documents before departing back to Berlin.
She told them where his room was and Grynszpan pushed past them and ran towards his room.
The worker told him to come back and when he saw Grynszpan didn't listen to his yells, the worker went after him.
Grynszpan found vom Rath's room and barged in, catching vom Rath by complete surprise.
Before vom Rath could ask Grynszpan an explanation...
Grynszpan pulled out his revolver that he purchased a few days ago, pointed at vom Rath and shot at him five times, only two hit him.
The worker heard the gunfire and tackled Grynszpan to the ground and disarmed him while Grynszpan didn't put up much of a fight.
Diplomats and workers that were outside of vom Rath's office heard and saw the gunfire and the crime scene quickly alerted the embassy and the French Police.
Ernst vom Rath wouldn't be able to survive his wounds.
