Johannes Kepler, a German mathematician, astronomer, and astrologer, created three laws of planetary motion in his book, "Astronomia Nova". The first law is "All planets move in elliptical orbits, with the sun at one focus". The second law is "A line that connects a planet to the sun sweeps out equal areas in equal times". The third and final law is "The square of period of any planet is proportional to the cube of the semi-major axis of its orbit".
