Virginia Settlers landed on Jamestown Island on May, 14, 1607. Jamestown Island was an english colony 60 miles from The Chesapeake Bay. Jamestown was much more secure so it was much harder for Spanish ships to fire. But, within only a few days they were attacked by Powhatan Indians.
