New astronomy discoveries were made using the scientific method. Those discoveries would then have huge impact in the modern day as it directly affects our understanding of the modern world. Some discoveries were that the Earth moves around the sun, and also that not in exact circle but rather in an oval shape. This is also near when Galileo Galilei made his discoveries of sun spots, craters on the moon, and etc.
