And where can the potential for political subjectification be located? Sebastian Schweer examines the subversive components of skateboarding and at the same time criticizes its unreflective exaggeration as an urban rebellion. Using empirical examples and current topics such as possible participation in the Olympics, sponsorship of large corporations and attempts at urban planning, he describes both the do-it-yourself culture and spatial practice of skateboarding culture as well as the struggle for public space.
