Mother Jones or Mary Harris Jones was a labor activist and helped many during the rail strikes of the 1870s. Tee way she cared for the strikers led them to refer to her as Mother Jones through the way she treated them like a mother. She would then go on to form the Social Demorcatic Party in 1898.
