The Cotton Gin was created by Eli Whitney in 1794 and had great importance to the U.S economy. With the Cotton Gin the cotton processing was revolutionized, leading to a big increase of profits because of the better, cheaper and faster production, it also dovetailed with the Industrial Revolution, which helped with the increasing of cotton shipped to other countries. However the Cotton Gin directly affected the increase in the number of enslaved people as owners needed to cultivate, plant and harvest the cotton. It affected politics till the civil war and the abolishment of slavery. The cotton Gin was related to cheaper cloth and availability of it as well.
