26 Jul 1713 Jahr - Treaty of Utrecht (1713)
Beschreibung:
The peace of Utrecht marked an end to not only a very important and long war, but also to the reign of Louis XIV who would die, destitute, two years later. The treaty itself forever divided Spanish territory among the powers of Europe (primarily Austria and France) and saw that Philip V, a Bourbon, would sit peacefully upon the throne of Spain itself. This is more important that the peace of Ryswick, which ended the War of the League of Augsburg in 1697, because that peace ultimately failed to settle the question of Spanish Succession, provoking the war of Spanish Succession only a few years later.
