14 Jun 1688 Jahr - The Glorious Revolution (1688)
Beschreibung:
This revolution, a product of threatened English civil liberties and a seemingly unending Catholic line of Stuarts, was incited by the leading men of Parliament offering the throne of England (upon which currently resided James II) to Mary, William of Orange’s wife. The ensuing revolution ended with William defeating James II in a battle at Boyne River in Ireland in 1690. William consequently brought England into his alliances against Louis XIV and France. (Palmer 165-167)
