The second major battle that Navajo code talkers fought in the Pacific theater was the battle of Peleliu. The battle of Peleliu aka Operation Stalemate lasted from Sep 15, 1944 – Nov 27, 1944. In this battle, the Japanese fought against the Americans in Peleliu Palau, even though there were heavy losses (28,000 Marines and infantry troops & 11,000 Japanese soliders) the United States came out on top.
