Henry Hudson was a dutch explorer who settled in eastern north america for the Netherlands. His accomplishments includes being the first to sail down the Hudson river and finding and claiming New York, or New Amsterdam as it was called then. His achievement was big for the age of explorations because it exposed new land and new areas to be explored.
