Rebels planned to kidnap General Martin Perfecto De Cos and began marching towards Goliad, even though they got the news that he already left to Mexico they kept on marching and realized that the fort was poorly defended so under the rule of James Fannin and Benjamin Milam they took the fort along with tens of thousands of dollars worth in materials. Due to this it was official that we were in it to win it, also a lot of the seized materials were transported to be used at the Siege of Bexar.
