As a part of japanese culture it is seen as dishonourable to surrender, so the Japanese thought they never would. it was estimated that it would take 1 million American Casulaties to finally defate Japan. So the Americans tested out there new Nuclear Bomb on two Japanese cities. After they saw the devistation that it caused, they agreed to surrender, and on the 2nd of September abourd the USS Missouri.
