Hubble space telescope was not the first telescope, however, it was the largest and most popular telescope. Launched in 1990 by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), it has gone about 4 billion miles along the earth orbit. It is still doing its job in the space, circuling the earth orbit about 340 miles in altitude.
