For the Roman Republic, after King Tarquin's exit, Rome suffered from both internal and external conflict. Most of the 5th century BCE was spent struggling, espicially the wars with carthage. The End of the Roman Republic occurred when Julius Caeser had been stabbed to death, and Octavion named emperor of the new Roman Empire
