Following in the footsteps of the United States, the United Kingdom legalized same sex marriage in the mid 2010's. At this point in time it had been decriminalized since the 1960's. The Same sex couples Act comes at a very unique time in which across the planet things that have been frowned upon for 1000's of years are now being excepted in society. The act itself is quite simple in design, as it had been previously decriminalized all the act does is legally give the ability for same sex couples to get married in the United Kingdom. This act has a profound effect on British society and the world at large because it brings forward human society just another step by not dividing us on our differences, but uniting us based on those same differences.
