Judith Sargent Murray was a women's right advocate and writer. She published an essay titled, "On Equality of the Sexes", defending women's rights. She explained that women shared the same rights as men, equal intelligence and potential as men, and that women should have the same education as men. She also said that women should have the opportunity to go out and work instead of doing housework and confined to being mothers and wives.
