The Declaration of Independence was drafted by Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin. The vote to inpliment the Declaration occured during the 2nd Continental Congress meetings in June of 1776. July 4th is recognised as the date that the declaration was formally adopted.
