The Aztecs were a great military empire of the Americas before the time of European colonization, and had several factors leading to their downfall. Fist off, the great sacrifices that they preformed were not helping them sustain their civilization by any means. Killing thousands of potential workers and people producers is never sustainable. This was not helped with the arrival of disease. Now on top of the thousands of sacrifices that they were preforming, there was more people dying from disease. This led the Spanish to have a fairly easy victory agianst the dying people in their final stand at the siege of Tenochtitlán.
