Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam responded to the mach on April 28, saying that the public had some misunderstandings and hoped to clarify and allay their concerns through the legal vetting process. Secretary for Security John Lee said that communication between Hong Kong and Taiwan was initiated in March through the Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council and the Taiwan-Hong Kong Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council. Taiwan had replied and the Hong Kong government would also reply soon.
