The Pazzi conspiracy was a failed plan to overthrow the Medici rulers of Florence. It was the biggest threat of all political resistance towards the Medici family. The conspiracy was headed by the rival Pazzi family of Florence. It was planned to assassinate Lorenzo de' Medici and his brother Giuliano. However, Lorenzo was wounded but survived, but Giuliano was killed.
