(1812): The Russian Campaign happened because Russia refused to join the continental blockade from England, so Napoleon invaded Russia. He was successful in battle time and time again, but the Russians just kept running back and burning land so there was nothing for the French to take. This happened over and over until the French ran out of supplies and had to run back, as they had to run back the Russians followed them and took them out in battles, on the way back though, over 500,000 French soldiers died from starvation or the cold. This was the big decisive victory that turned the tide of the Napoleonic wars into the favor of the Coalitions side.
