Darwin was thriving even getting a new airport built. Japan was flying over south Asia until they found Darwin. They knew Australians were building new defence and Darwin was becoming big which lead them to bombing Darwin on the 19th of February 1942 Darwin – A valuable asset to Australia’s defence during the second world war – was bombed. Japanese fighter planes flew over the harbour and dropped two bombs. It killed 252 people and caused unforgettable hurt. This like the war was a way for Australia to learn about their enemies and learn from their mistakes to prevent any more heartache in the future.
