Police were called to a Best Buy parking lot at 3:36 p.m. on a report of a disorderly subject damaging at least one vehicle in the lot. Several witnesses reported the man was using a tire iron or a crow bar on the vehicle. One Springfield police officer, Eric Pardee, arrived to confront Chase Brooks and shot and killed him.
