On July 4th 1940, the founding fathers of the United Stares signed the constitution, a document stating the laws of America. At the time, the constitution was comprised of seven articles. The constitution states the laws and structure of the American government. Specifically the separation of powers by establishing the executive, judicial, and legislative branches. It also includes the principle of state sovereignty.
