In 1903 St. Benedict’s Church and grade school were organized by Father Philip William who came from the Benedictine College at Atchison (Morgan, Perl W. History of Wyandotte County Kansas and its People, Lewis Publishing Co, 1911:2). The Church was closed in 1973 and has since been torn down. It was located on Pacific and Boeke Streets in Strawberry Hill. There were many students who attended the adjacent elementary school through the years which was more recently torn down in 2013. The Church had a bowling alley and dance floor like many of the churches in Strawberry Hill.
