The Howling Wolves Splinter From the Wolves of the Bewilderland when Kalden summons the latter group to Thorinspyrr to plead for their fealty. Many Wolves swore themselves to the ruling Jarl, but others rejected his claim and denounced him as a warmonger (One of the worst insults one can receive in the Southern Dominions, as it compares one to the Sunborn of old who fought in the War of Beliefs and caused the Great March). Both sides begin to argue with each other, and the tension eventually breaks resulting in a bloody brawl which would see many inhabitants of Thorinspyrr maimed or otherwise killed. The dissidents eventually break away and flee for the forests, adopting the name of "The Howling Wolves". In the cycles hence, they become a widespread organization, dealing in matters from mercenary work to peddling and thievery.

The Wolves of the Bewilderland vow to to swear themselves to any and all Jarls who might come to rule the Bewilderland, serving them only to protect their kinsmen from beasts and other perils.

The night of 1879 is henceforth known as "The Night of Mournful Howls".
