1 Sept 1905 Jahr - Alberta & Saskatchewan are Created

Beschreibung:

Part of the Northwest Territories area, these 2 provinces were created in 1905 under the rule of Canada. Long after the British had started to show interest for the area and its agricultural potential in the 1850s and 1860s (the southern plains which were east of the Rocky Mountains in particular), Canada had gotten ahold of Rupert's Land and the North-Western Territory from HBC in 1870. In 1874, Canada started exploring the area that we call Alberta today more, and established Fort Macleod. In 1875, more forts were built in the areas that make up today's cities Calgary and Edmonton. Prime Minister Wilfred Laurier, Frederick William Haultain (a political leader), and James Hamilton Ross (a member of the Territorial legislature) met to discuss the creation of a new province within the Northwest Territories. The area was originally going to be the districts of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Assiniboia, and Athabasca combined. As the discussion went on and more negotiations were made, the decision was that the region would be too big to be one single province, so it would be split into 2 provinces, Albert & Saskatchewan. The Alberta Act & The Saskatchewan Act came into effect on September 1, 1905.
