The Durona Killings were a part of the Pertash Genocide and was the third Oipientian orchestrated attack on the Pertash peoples. The city of Durona (now Kristatar), was a major Pertash settlement and was specially selected by King Rikjoert the Second as a target. According to the Oipientian public, he traveled to the Empire of the Dragon under a diplomatic emmisary to find a Bouran or Merrician wife for his young son, Iro. However, he instead led an attack against Durona to which he laid siege to it for a total of 4 days as his soldiers raided the buildings in search of the Pertash. According to legend, Rikjoert is said to have killed only one Pertash in his life, a young boy around age 7, during the Durona Killings. Official Oipientian reports label the number of killed as 743-760, while it is estimated that the number is closer to around 900. The Durona Killings were the worst attack against the Pertash by the Oipientians up to that point.

During the Durona Killings, the leading knight of the Oipientian forces, Sir Õrpíkal Síkdamañ, got into a fight with a Pertash man which ended in the knight's death. With the death of Sir Síkdamañ, news finally got out about Oipienta's involvement in the Pertash Genocide. The common people of Oipienta were heavily against it, while the upper classes tended to either support the involvement or simply not care. A main reason as to why King Rikjoert "The Bloodthursty" was poisoned was because of his choice to partake in the Pertash Genocide and hide it from all of Oipienta.
